What should I wear?

The dress code for our wedding will be semi-formal/cocktail.

What shoes should I wear?

Due to the nature of Canadian winters, we request you to wear your normal winter attire over your nice outfit and to bring a pair of indoor shoes to change into at the venue.

Are there any colours or styles you'd prefer me to wear?

We do not have specific colours that that we would like you to wear, so choose colours you feel comfortable with. We do ask that you avoid wearing red, white and all black.

Where is the ceremony?

The ceremony and reception will both be held at Brookside Baptist Church in Kanata, Ontario.

What is the best way to get there? Is there parking available?

The best way to get to the church is by car. There is parking available on-site. If you do not drive, the best bus to take is the 63 to Flamborough/Klondike and to walk from that station to the church. If you will be needing help with transport, please let us know in advance.

What time should I get there?

The ceremony will start at 2pm. To give yourself enough time to take off your jacket, change your shoes, find your seat & build some anticipation, we recommend you aim to arrive between 1:30pm and 1:45pm.

What will the weather be like? Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Historically, the weather in Ottawa in January has an average high of -5C and an average low of -13C. There is typically either snowfall or snow on the ground around this time of year. Because of this, we ask you to bring a pair of indoor shoes. The wedding will be held indoors.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Yes! We ask that you stay in your seat so that our lovely photographer can work her magic, but you are more than welcome to snap some photos. We are currently looking into options for photo sharing and will update with more information when we have decided. We may ask you to download an app for our special day.

Will you be livestreaming your wedding?

Yes! We will be livestreaming the wedding for those who will not be able to celebrate with us in person. The platform that the livestream will be held has not yet been determined. We will update this page with the link to sign up for the email with the livestream links shortly.

Will there be a reception? Where will it be?

We will be having a casual cocktail-style reception after the ceremony. This reception will take place in the same room as the ceremony. If you would like to make this transformation happen, we invite you to sign up for our emails. We are also gladly accepting help from anyone that would like to help bring food (appetizers and desserts) for our reception.

Will there be a time gap between the ceremony and the reception?

There will be a short gap between the ceremony and the reception while the room is transformed for the reception. We invite guests to hang around the lobby during this time. Guests are also welcome to help if they so please.

When should I expect to go home?

The official celebrations will end at 6PM. At this time, you are free to go home or to take the opportunity to go out for dinner.

Will you be serving food?

We will be having a cocktail-style reception with appetizers and desserts.

Will you be serving alcohol?

No. Alcohol, recreational and/or illegal drugs, and smoking/vaping are STRICTLY prohibited on the property. Please leave the property if you need to smoke.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

If you or anyone you are RSVPing for has dietary restrictions, please let us know in the RSVP form. We will do our best to make sure there is something for you, but we may contact you if we need help to fulfill the dietary restrictions.

How do I RSVP?

To RSVP, please fill out our RSVP Form. If you are only joining us virtually, please sign up for e-mails to receive the link for the livestream.

When do I need to RSVP by?

Please RSVP as soon as possible, as it will help us with planning. The hard deadline for RSVPing is December 15th, 2024

Can I bring a plus one?

Unfortunately, we asks guests to not bring any plus one with them, unless their invitation has a plus one listed on it.

Can I bring my kids?

As much as we love the children of our friends and family, we highly encourage you to take our wedding as an opportunity for date night. Unless your child was explicitly invited, we ask that you arrange for child care for the afternoon of the day of. However, if there are extenuating circumstances and you cannot find child care, we ask you to contact us before the wedding, as we would prefer our loved ones to be present.
